Did you know that the construction engineering works increased by 33.6% in Romania in the first seven months of 2023 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year? (source: INS)

According to the official data from the National Institute of Statistics, in the first seven months of 2023, the volume of construction works in Romania increased by 12.4% as gross series, compared to the same period of 2022. Furthermore, the volume of the construction works increased by 12.9% as gross series in 2022 compared to 2021.

According to Cushman & Wakefield Echinox, the construction and real estate sector in Romania attracted foreign direct investments (FDI) of around 1.2 bn EUR in 2022, thus this sector reaching a share of 17.2% in the total FDI balance.

As it results from the data published by the National Commission for Strategy and Prognosis in August 2023, the construction sector in Romania is forecasted to record y-o-y growths of 6.5% in 2023, 8.7% in 2024, 10% in 2025, 8% in 2026 and 6.7% in 2027.

Infrastructure Development in the Romanian Defense Sector

Over two billion lei were allocated for Romanian defense infrastructure investment works for the year 2023. Up to September, works worth 493.63 mRON have been executed and settled. The estimated value of the NATO NSIP projects in Romania for the period 2023-2027 is 149.9 mEUR. Romania allocates 2.5% of her GDP to the Defense Sector as part of the NATO structures.

The infrastructure of the 57th Air Base from the 888 Mihail Kogalniceanu barracks, an investment  with total value of about 2.576 bnEUR

Infrastructure in the 3600 Mihai Bravu barracks, the total value of the investment being 1.148 bnRON. The duration of the works is estimated at 66 months.

Infrastructure works necessary for the functioning of the National Military College “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” in barracks 3607 Constanta, investment whose technical-economic indicators were approved by Government Decision no. 309/2021, the total value of the investment being 206.7 mRON. The duration of the works is estimated at 48 months
