What is the situation of production of poultry meat in Poland and in Hungary? In 2023, the Polish meat processing companies produced over 3.26 million tonnes. In 2022, the Hungarian processing units produced over 482 thousand tonnes of poultry meat.

According to the FRD Center analysis, there are considerable opportunities in the Food Processing Industry in Emerging Europe.

Romania’s poultry meat production increased last year by 5.5%, compared to 2022, totaling 539,867 tons, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics.

How about Bulgaria? According to the National Statistics Institute, the Bulgarian food processing companies gererated in 2022:

– 304,619,999 kg of fresh or chilled meat (bovine, swine, poultry, sheep and horses)

– 51,628,100 kg of frozen meat (bovine, swine and poultry)

– 16,332,780 kg of salted, dried or smoked meat (bovine and swine)

– 106,563,508 kg of sausages and similar products of meat, offal or blood

– 17,523,139 kg of frozen vegetables

– 12,234,109 kg of jams, fruit jellies and fruit or nut puree and pastes

– 45,297,308 kg of chocolate and food preparations containing cocoa

How about the cheese production in Emerging Europe?
According to Eurostat, in 2022, Romania produced 102.79 thousand tonnes of cheese, while the Polish processors made 925.74 thousand tonnes. In Serbia they produced 51.23 thousand tonnes of cheese. The Bulgarian dairy processors made 97.60 thousand tonnes of cheese in 2022, similar to the Hungarian ones (92.78). In Czechia over 175 thousand tonnes of cheese were made in 2022.
