The attractiveness of Romania as an investment destination for foreign companies increased in 2024 compared to other locations in Central and Eastern Europe, a trend confirmed by the increase in the volume of foreign direct investments compared to the first part of 2023, but also by the sentiment of foreign investors, in the international geopolitical context, of the reconfiguration of supply chains, respectively of a stable local environment, according to the conclusions of the MIRSANU INVESTORS SUMMIT event, an online event organized on June 27 by the transaction journal MIRSANU.RO.

The Romanian GDP per capita overtook the Polish one. According to the latest data from the EU statistical office, in 2023, Romania reached 80% of the EU average, i.e. at the same level as Poland and above Hungary.

AmCham Romania recently presented the results of the annual survey on the quality of the investment and business climate. The sixth edition indicates the optimism of AmCham members and the confidence in Romania’s economic potential, confirmed by the maintenance of consistent investment intentions in the next 12 months, but also by expansion plans in the horizon of the next 3 years.

According to President of AmCham Romania, quoted by Agenda Constructiilor, Romania is the best investment destination in the region. This is the message that AmCham sends to potential investors on every occasion and we rely on the optimism of the members, on the positive business results and on their plans to invest further. The main anchors of trust remain Romania’s status as a member of the European Union, a member of NATO and the prospect of joining the OECD, while, from the point of view of business plans and investment returns, the most convincing advantages are human capital, market size, the quality of the digital infrastructure and, very importantly, the fiscal framework. This aspect is significant because the level of taxation and the fiscal framework do not only attract investments, but are essential for them to develop and generate prosperity.”
